Mendeley is a reference management software and social network for scientists. It offers support in managing, processing and citing literature, and enables scientific teams to collaborate on literature collections.

The cross-platform application allows, for example, an easy-to-handle import of references from Web of Science, Google Scholar and other sources as well as the automatic synchronisation of literature collections via the cloud. It is possible to automatically compile literature lists and bibliographies respectively via a plugin in different word processing programmes.

To benefit from additional features, members of ETH Zurich need to join the ETH Zürich Institutional Group on Mendeley. This enables them to receive a free upgrade that includes various features, such as more library space for PDF documents or the ability to create an unlimited number of private groups. In addition Mendeley Institutional Edition offers ETH Zürich users direct linking to the ETH-Bibliothek’s electronic resources via SFX and automatic literature recommendations.

Information on the procedure and an overview of the functionalities and enhancements of the Mendeley Institutional Edition can be found on the ETH-Bibliothek’s Knowledge Portal.

The ETH-Bibliothek will offer training courses on using Mendeley starting autumn semestre.
